Dear Friends:
I am pleased to announce that my Advisory Committee on Disability Issues will be holding an awards ceremony on October 21, 2005, at Brooklyn Borough Hall, in honor of the 15th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and in celebration of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
We will be honoring Brooklyn businesses, organizations, and individuals that have supported and advocated for Brooklynites with disabilities. Examples include:
businesses that have made a special effort to accommodate or recruit individuals with disabilities,
organizations that have integrated both disabled and non-disabled Brooklynites into their programs,
and businesses/organizations that have provided special access or accommodations for people with disabilities.
If you know of an individual, business or organization that has helped people with disabilities to function better in their homes, jobs, or communities, please complete a nomination form and return it by June 15, 2005 to Jessica Blum of my staff.
For more information, Ms. Blum may be reached at 1-718-802-3794 or jblum@brooklynbp.nyc.gov
I look forward to working with you to improve the lives of the disabled in Brooklyn.
Sincerely,
Marty Markowitz
